Auto brightness with 5.1.1

When I got my TAB S2 it was with 5.0.2 and I was able to increase or decrease how auto brightness works with a slider in notification tray. After flashing T710XXU2BOJ1 (5.1.1) if I use the slider with auto brightness turned on it will turn off the auto brightness :( This is a bit annoying because I like to use auto brightness and now can correct it if it's not doing a good job :/ Is this a 5.1.1 feature or a bug and I should do a factory reset?

P.S. If I do a factory reset on rooted firmware will I loose root ?
