Hey everyone,
I've had my Nexus 5X (32GB) for awhile now (it was a pre-order) and I've generally thought myself able to fix any problem with it. But I guess I've met my maker.
About 2 months ago I had to replace the display after it cracked falling off my desk (believe it or not, it survived falling off my 4th story balcony about a week before lol). A month after that, I replaced the display again because the cable got severed as I did a pretty **** job of resealing it against the frame the first time. Now, a few days ago I went to use the phone and had a completely black display (backlight worked, but no data was making it to the screen, same symptoms as severed ribbon cable) so I elected to buy a replacement display with frame, as I figured I just suck at fitting them together.
Transferred everything to the new frame, powered up the phone and, to my dismay, touch input didn't work at all. My first instinct was that the new parts were defective (as I never had a problem other than display units) so I sent it back and got a replacement part. Now on the 2nd display/frame assembly (4th display overall) and touch input is still gone.
I'm assuming the mainboard is FUBAR, but does anyone have some info/experience with failed touch input? I'm just trying to see if there's anything else I can do before I declare it a loss.
